Zvezda 1/35 BTR-80a WIP 1

Well I have been wanting to do a diorama for a while. And I found this kit on the internet so it was a good excuse to spread my wings on new things.

I was nervous when I opened the kit, and unfortunately it was a little beat up from the flight from russia. Some parts missing some parts ripped off their spru.

As I was building the kit I then discovered a lot of the parts just flat out didn't fit. Which is really frustrating. Not that I can't fix it, I can and did, but nothing having them fit makes me rethink If the part is on right. But in the end all I can say is the kit is unique and I like that, and the issues are really just the price to pay for having a unique kit.

I also got some afgan-russian war figures which I am going to use for the diorama.
So YES it is not historically accurate since the 80a model was not introduced till after the war was over. but I don't care, I feel it is close enough that only people that know their history will notice and they are usually pissed off about something anyways.

Hatsune Miku: Sculpt WIP 18

So I finally got around to building this. And she is done now so I thought I would share some wip pictures before I post the final pictures.

Had to deal with some poor resin, kind of my fault left the bottles out in the garage where It got over 100F degrees.

I went with the stand colors, I wanted it to be a example to show others how to build it.
Though I hope I can get the funds to get new resin so the ones I sell are not terrible, I mean they are ok but not for beginners where this kit was kind of aimed towards.

Didn't really have any trouble painting it, took a lot of masking but was not too bad. the worse was the arms where I had to get the teal bit, not perfectly round so had to cut out a lot of little circles to get it to fit.

Enjoy, look out for information on how to buy one soon!

MG GN-X Finish

Took me a lot longer then I wanted because of school but it is done. Really happy with the way it came out.

The main thing I wanted with this kit is to have a nice clear look, but have lots of silver and hard edges. I Feel like I got that pretty well.

Although I kind of halved on the hard edge part since I notice there was a lot of circle areas on the kit. So I played with that some with the decals and I even did a few panel lines in the circle areas to make them pop. I think I could have done more with it but all in all it blends in nicely.

Decals from Samuel decal and I really liked the design but some of the decal's color disintegrated, luckily he provides a lot of each type so wasn't a problem. Though the ones on the pelvis you can't really see them in the light since they are silvery. Oh well.

White is a pain to work with. For one it doesn't have the coverage as other paints so often you have to do multiple coats get white down, second even if you just graze it picks up your finger oil and makes it yellow or brown. there were a few spots where I went back and touched up with a paint brush, but that only made it worse since I didn't know I had been using the flat white and it made more brush marks then normal. Can't really tell that much after clear coats and good lighting but I CAN TELL >:| THEREFORE IT PISSES ME OFF.

Used alclad for the metal parts and they came out soooo good. But I do feel that if I had polished the surface better it would have came out more shinny. I was in a pickle though since it would be easier to do the metal at the very last which meant there was a lot of paint build up by the time I got to it. I still really like how it came out the metal really makes the kit pop and is styled well enough to not be too distracting.

This kit is really nice and love the design of it but it is so top heavy, like it was a real pain to pose this and take photos because it kept falling over. At the end I got the hang of the trick to get it to stand up right but yeah minus marks on that end.

Another kit down! glad to finally have this done. Going to work on a Russian Afgan war diorama next :D

MG GN-X WIP

Wow I am terrible I haven't posted since last year? My bad :(

So with this I wanted to make something that was clean and simple with a lot of decals.
I think I did it justice.
Did a few mods to it, really there were some places I felt were too round for my liking so I made them hard edges. Did nothing to the joints, these new MGs are really good in that department, though I do miss making new joints maybe I can find a old kit to go next.

One thing that bugs me is how hard it is to have white WHITE. First it takes forever to paint since white is pretty thin pigment, then even touching it gives it a little tint that sure no one will see, but I SEE IT and there for it bugs me. But I repainted the worst spots and the rest isn't that bad.
